The goal of this Near Real-Time Lake Data Pilot Project is to provide volunteers and the public with a statewide perspective on current water quality conditions for several lakes that are geographically distributed throughout Maine. Lake water clarity (aka: transparency) is an important and reliable indicator of lake health. Click on the image below to view current water clarity conditions for the pilot lakes. The information is updated regularly by participating certified VLMP lake monitors. Check back frequently to see how water clarity conditions vary from lake to lake, region to region, throughout the monitoring season.
Once again, VLMP Lake Monitors and collaborators will be submitting Ice-Out dates for their lakes in 2016. The map below shows all lakes that have reported ice out. Click on a star to see information about the lake. Send ice out data for your lake to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 207-783-7733. Include your name, the lake name, town and date of ice out.
How to use this Map: The map below shows all Maine lakes for which we have ice out data in 2016. To find out more about a specific lake, click on the star to view the information. Lake data can also be found by clicking the list icon in the upper left-hand corner of the map and choosing a lake name from the list.
